April 1, 2009 Stimulus Watch
I was emailed this site and found it fascinating.
Stimulus Watch is an online, interactive resource that “was built to help the administration keep it’s pledge to invest in stimulus money smartly, and to hold public officials to account for the taxpayer money they spend”. They do this “by allowing citizens around the country with local knowledge about the proposed ‘shovel ready projects’ to find, rate, and discuss the projects”.
This resource utilizes wiki’s, Facebook, and comment discussions to facilitate thoughtful discussion.
Stimulus Watch is a great example of how interactive technology is paired with passion and experience in government, environmental studies, journalism, etc.
Check out the video tutorial.
