April 9, 2012 Matt Ferraguto at Eckel & Vaughan discuss the “Art of the Info Interview”

A couple of weeks ago I had the pleasure of chatting with Matt Ferraguto, Digital Division Director at Eckel and Vaughan in Raleigh, NC (he’s a big fan of Elon students and alums!). Matt and I had an interesting discussion on what exactly networking is, and how many students see it as a temporary endeavor and a necessary hurdle they must jump in order to land a job. Matt discussed his networking strategy and method for informational meetings, as well as the great professionals he met and relevant info learned from those professionals. He’s still connected to those he met as he networked, and continues to grow those relationships today, because actually…you are ALWAYS networking and ALWAYS interviewing, and if you do a good job of this, you’ll find opportunities coming your way out of the blue (without even applying).
